Redlining: Racism in the 21st Century.

Posted on October 30, 2018

Redlining is the marking of a certain neighborhoods, usually racially associated neighborhoods so that banks and insurance can have a reason to give loans or insure houses. When I discovered how often this happens, and how it is unfair I was shocked that it is still happening. in effect these neighborhoods were left undeveloped, as even if a new business would try to start in that neighborhood, banks would deem it as too risky and dangerous. So, people left in these neighborhoods had a very limited access to banks, groceries and so much more. Also, the quality of education in these neighborhoods was very poor. I believe this is a very interesting issue in today’s society that needs more awareness.
